World news is a broad category that refers to any global happening that the public may want to know about. It includes breaking news (such as natural disasters, wars or terrorist attacks) and political events that affect the entire globe. World news is often categorized as one of the subfields of journalism, along with local or national news. In many countries, news organizations will have a separate division devoted to specializing in world reporting.
A world reporter is generally a full-time journalist who works from a foreign city to report on a specific country or region. These reporters will be able to file stories to their news editor that are relevant across the globe.
